Heeey! So my summer holidays started about 10 days ago and I hadn’t really done any artsy (beauty related) DIY project. Well.. I haven’t ever done this sort of thing before, but I’ve always wanted to (I spend hours on stylegawker, thebeautydepartment and other DIY blogs). This summer is a summer of change (hopefully) and I want to be as ‘productive’ as possible, i.e. not waste the entire day on the internet.
I had this jojoba oil chapstick that I didn’t like very much and decided to add a bit of color to make it more lively and bright and me-ish. So why not do a DIY tinted lip balm tutorial? I am not an expert in making tutorials or beauty stuff, but let’s give it a shot!
What you need:
Old lipsticks; vaseline/ old chapstick; bowl; toothpick; microwave; storage container.
What I did (one of the many methods you could try):
I cut off small portions of some of my old lipsticks and put them in a bowl. To this I added the jojoba oil chapstick insides (lol). I then tried blending it all together after which I put it in the microwave for 60 (to 90) seconds. I poured this mixture back into the lip balm container-thing. Refrigerate it for about 24 hours and voila!
This is probably one of the easiest DIY beauty project. It could be a wonderful gift or just a little something to add to your collection. Also if you don’t have a tinted lip balm (like me haha.. well now I do), I recommend giving this a try. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to photograph the entire process (by which I mean I forgot), but you get the gist. I was happy with the results as my boring lip balm now subtle tint of color! You can add more lipstick to get a more colorful look. Also, I think if you use food coloring (powdered or gel), it acts like a lip stain. If you give it a try tell me how it goes!
